ARTIST STATEMENT

Art and self-expression in various forms has been a way of life for me.  Whether painting a landscape or designing and crafting a piece of jewelry or hollowware, most of my work has been an outward expression of a deep inward emotional response to nature and my surroundings.  As I get older and further along on this journey I have come to view my creativity as a sacred privilege.  I have been struck recently by the thought that when I create a piece of jewelry, or painting, I am bringing something into the world that in all of history has never before existed.  For me, that is a Big Thought.  Each piece is part of my own unique personal experience.  It is something that I have “seen” first with my heart and then have been privledged to “birth” into existence.  It is a joyous experience to create on this level and I sense a deeper and deeper communion with The Creator as I continue to pursue my work and create.
